The Seattle Mariners picked up a much needed win against the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday night by the score of 4-2.  Starting pitcher Felix Hernandez tosses a complete game for the Mariners to pick up his second win of the season.  Hernandez allowed eight hits and two runs, only one of the runs was earned however.

Jose Vidro led the Mariners with two RBI while Raul Ibanez and Adrian Beltre both had one RBI.

The Seattle Mariners finally figured out the Kansas City Royals pitching staff as they scored 11 runs as they beat the Royals 11-6 on Tuesday night.  After having a complete game thrown at them on Monday, the Mariners came out swinging early and often.

Jose Lopez had four RBI for the Mariners, and three of them came on sacrafice flies.  Lopez is just the 12th player in major league history to hit three sacrafice flies in a game.  Yuniesky Betancourt tallied three RBI, Kenji Johjima had two RBI, while Raul Ibanez and Willie Bloomquist chipped in with one RBI each.

Starting pitcher Miguel Batista struggled for the Mariners but he did pick up the win after pitching five innings and allowing seven hits and four earned runs.  Ryan Rowland-Smith also had some trouble as he had two earned runs in only one inning of action.

The pitching staff is really lucky that the offense scored 11 runs, or the Mariners would have probably lost this game the way the pitchers pitched.

The Seattle Mariners didn’t have much of a chance on Monday night against the Kansas City Royals as Royals pitcher Zack Greinke was on the top of his game.  After it was all said and done, the Mariners only had five hits on the night, and only scored one run.  That definately won’t get it done against this year Royals team.

The one Mariners run came off the bat of Ichiro when he grounded into a fielders choice in the 3rd inning.  Other then that, the Mariners bats were silent against Greinke.

Jarrod Washburn took the loss for the Mariners on the mound.  Washburn pitched six innings and gave up three earned runs while striking out six batters.  He did give up two home runs however which accounted for all three earned runs.

Sean Green gave up one earned run without even recording an out.  Roy Corcoran also gave up an earned run as he pitched one inning.

The Seattle Mariners got shutout by the Tampa Bay Rays 7-0 in Thursdays ballgame.  The Mariners only had three hits in the ballgame, and only two of those were in the first eight innings of the game.  You can’t win when you only hit the ball three times!

There isn’t much to talk about the offense, other then they sucked it up against Edwin Jackson who dominated them for eight innings.

On the pitching side of things, Miguel Batista pitched six innings and gave up eight hits and four earned runs as he picked up the loss.  Batista is now 0-2 on the season.  He better turn it around in a hurry!

Eric O’Flaherty only got one out, and gave up one hit and three earned runs.  Terrible job by Batista and O’Flaherty on the game.

The Seattle Mariners whipped up on the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday night by the score of 7-1.  The Mariners blew it open in the 8th inning when Jamie Burke hit a three run homerun to extend the lead to six runs.

Adrian Beltre also had a homerun for the Mariners as he went deep in the 5th inning.  Ichiro, Jose Lopez, Richie Sexson, and Jose Vidro all chipped in with one RBI each.

Jarrod Washburn pitched seven innings of six hit ball and only allowed one earned run while picking up his first win of the season.  Washburn controlled the Rays bats all night long in the victory.

Erik Bedard picked up his first victory with the Seattle Mariners as they beat the Tampa Bay Rays by the score of 6-5.  The Mariners record is now at 3-5 and they hope to get back to .500 after the Rays series.

Bedard pitched six innings and allowed five hits, five run (three were earned), walked four, and struckout five batters.  Bedard knows that he needs to have better control of the ball and not walk so many batters, so I expect him to really work on that and have a good performance during his next start.

Ryan Rowland-Smith picked up the save for the Mariners and it was his first save of the season.

Richie Sexson led the Mariners with three RBI followed by Brad Wilkerson who had two RBI.  Jose Lopez was right behind them with one RBI.

The Seattle Mariners lost 5-4 to the Baltimore Orioles on Monday afternoon, and it was the first time the Mariners were swept in a four game series by the Orioles since 1999.

Ichiro Suzuki opened the game with his 26th career leadoff homer and singled in the seventh for his 1,600th hit. Raul Ibanez homered and drove in two runs but the Mariners still came up just short.

Carlos Silva went seven innings for Seattle, giving up four runs and nine hits.  Silva got a no decision in the game while Eric O’Flaherty took the loss when he gave up a homerun in the 8th inning to Aubrey Huff.

The Mariners will continue their road trip as they now head to Tampa Bay to take on the Rays in a three game series.

The Seattle Mariners fell to the Baltimore Orioles on Friday evening by the score of 7-4.  Jarrod Washburn picked up the loss for the Mariners after pitching five innings and giving up six hits and three earned runs including one homerun.

Adrian Beltre and Richie Sexson each hit two-run homers for the Mariners but it clearly wasn’t enough to get by the Orioles.

The Mariners record now stands at 2-2 on the season as they will battle it out with the Orioles once again on Saturday.

The Seattle Mariners have made another round of roster cuts during spring training.  Jeff ClementJon HuberSean White, and Cesar Jimenez were all optioned to Triple-A Tacoma.

Clement had a shot at making the big league roster had he put up better offensive numbers during spring training.  Instead, he only batted .158 and is on his way back to Triple-A Tacoma rather then staying with the big league team.
