The Seattle Mariners were finally able to catch a couple of breaks and defeat the Texas Rangers 4-3 as they avoided being swept in the three game series.  A 12th inning single by Miguel Cairo that scored Wladimir Balentien was the winning run for the Mariners.

Jose Lopez, Jeff Clement, Yuniesky Betancourt, and Cairo all had one rbi in the game.

J.J. Putz was the winner in the game as he pitched two innings in relief.  Putz even his record at 1-1 with the win.  Jarrod Washburn earned the save which was his first of the season.  Mariners starting pitcher Carlos Silva tossed 6 1/3 innings while giving up five hits and two runs.  Not too bad of a game for him.  Sean Green was the only relief pitcher to give up a run in the game.

The Seattle Mariners commited four errors and Felix Hernandez gave up three runs as the Seattle Mariners lost to the Texas Rangers by the score of 5-2.  Hernandez’s record dropped to 2-4 on the season as he took the loss for the Mariners.

Hernandez walked three five batters while stricking out three batters.  The walks really hurt Hernandez who seems to have control problems all night long.  Hernandez has four loses but still has a 3.37 era on the season.

Sean Green allowed two runs to score but both of those runs were unearned due to errors.

Both of the Mariners two runs came in the sixth inning.  Jose Lopez hit a sac fly for an rbi and Kenji Johjima had a rbi double.  The Mariners as a team struckout five times and left 15 men on base.

The Seattle Mariners jumped all over Texas Rangers starter Kevin Millwood on Monday night as the Mariners put up seven quick runs and went onto beat the Rangers 7-3.  You have to like seeing the Mariners put up seven runs in the first three innings of the game.  When you score runs like that at the beginning of the game you really put the other team in a hole and make them get into their bullpen early in the game.

Richie Sexson and Wladimir Balentien both hit home runs in the game for the Mariners.  Sexson had  solo shot and Balentien had a three run shot.  Both home runs came in the third inning when the Mariners scored four runs.

Balentien finished the game with three RBI while Raul Ibanez had two RBI.  Jose Lopez and Sexson both had one RBI in the game.

Mariners starting pitcher Jarrod Washburn finally picked up a win to improve his record to 2-4 on the season.  Washburn threw six innings of four hit ball.  He did give up three runs but pitched a lot better then he has been lately.  Washburn had to leave the game in the top of the seventh inning when he felt some tightness in his right calf.

Sean Green and J.J. Putz pitched the final three innings to finish off the Rangers.  They did not allow a run and pitched pretty good.

Ichiro Suzuki stole third base and then scored on a error by Casey Blake in the ninth inning to tie the game for the Mariners an send it to extra inning but the Mariners still lost the game 3-2 in 11 innings.  It was nice to see the Mariners come back in the ninth inning, but everytime they did score, it seemed the Indians were right there to score again in the bottom of the inning.

When the game went into extra innings, Richie Sexson hit a solo home run in the tenth inning but the Indians answered right back with a run when J.J. Putz walked in a run.  The Indians the scored again in the eleventh inning off of Mark Lowe to win the game.  Lowe took the loss for the Mariners and is now 1-2 on the season.

Tough loss for the Mariners, but I will give them credit for battling back.

The Seattle Mariners and the Cleveland Indians were tied 2-2 heading into the ninth inning and that is when the Mariners exploded for five runs in the ninth inning.  Adrian Beltre provided three of those runs with a three run home run in the inning.

Besides Beltre’s three RBI, Jose Vidro and Yuniesky Betancourt both had two RBI at the plate.

Carlos Silva got a no decision in the game even though he pitched pretty good.  Silva threw seven innings and gave up seven hits and two runs.  Silva kept the Mariners in it so they had a chance to win in the ninth inning.  Mark Lowe ended up pitching in relief and picking up the win.  It was Lowe’s first win of the season.

The Seattle Mariners got out to a 5-0 lead after three innings but could not hold onto that lead as they lost to the Baltimore Orioles 8-7 on Thursday night.  Anytime you are up 5-0 that early in the game, you need to not let up and continue to put pressure on the other team.  The Mariners did not do that and that is why they lost.

Jarrod Washburn pitched five innings and gave up six hits to and two runs.  Wasburn didn’t pitch too badly, it was the bullpen that really blew the game for the Mariners.  Roy CorcoranMark Lowe, and Sean Green all gave up one run.  Arthur Rhodes actually gave up three runs without even recording an out.  Green ended up taking the loss and is now 1-1 on the season.

At the plate for the Mariners, Ichiro and Adrian Beltre both hit home runs.  Beltre hit a solo shot in the second inning while Ichiro and a two run shot in the seventh inning.  Ichiro and Jose Vidro led the team with two RBI each.  Beltre, Jose Lopez, and Raul Ibanez all finished the game with one RBI.

The Seattle Mariners broke a 2-2 tie in the eigth inning on a Jose Vidro single that scored two runs as they defeated the Baltimore Orioles 4-2 on Tuesday night.  The Mariners only had five hits on the night, but that was enough to beat the Orioles who stranded 15 runners on base.

Arthur Rhodes picked up the win as he pitched in relief of Felix Hernandez.  Hernandez tossed seven innings and allowed six hits but only one run.  He got out of plenty of jams in the game as he struckout seven batters.  J.J. Putz picked up the save which was his second of the season.

Besides Vidro’s two RBI’s, Raul Ibanez also had one RBI on a goundout to second base in the first inning.

The Seattle Mariners took a big win over the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday 4-2 behind the great pitching of Miguel Batista putting them at 10-10 for the year.  The Mariners held the Angels to a scoreless game until the bottom of the ninth when the Angels started to rally but didn’t have quite enough to take home the win.

Batista came onto the mound to open the game and stayed there for seven and two thirds innings and even though he gave up 8 hits, no Angels’ runners were able to reach home plate.  Ryan Rowland-Smith was brought it to finish off the night and was able to secure his 2nd save of the season.

Seattle was swinging hard with Richie Sexton driving a home run putting him at five the season and a pair of RBIs as well. Ichiro Suzuki and Jose Lopez each picked up RBIs as well.

Coming off a 4 game winning streak do you think that the Seattle Mariners have what it takes to go up against the Balitmore Orioles ranked number 2 in the American League East?  I think the Mariners will do really well against the Orioles.
