The Seattle Mariners started the weekend with a bang with a 10-2 win at Turner Field in interim manager Jim Riggleman’s debut.  Erik Bedard turned in a nice performance until being pulled because of back spasms after three scoreless innings. Bedard isn’t expected to miss much time.

Seattle’s offense matched a season high with 15 hits. Jose Lopez continued his nice first half at the plate with 3 hits, 2 were doubles, and 4 RBI’s. Adrian Beltre added 2 hits and 3 RBI’s

The Bullpen pitched in with a nice peformance relieving Bedard, as Ryan Rowland-Smith picked up the win.

Just as we all got excited about the impressive win, we all got brought back down to earth with the Braves taking game 2 and 3 of the series. The Braves won those two games 5-4, and 8-3 respectively as the offense went back to it dissapearing act.

In game 2, the M’s took the lead to the bottom of the ninth as Miguel Batista blew the save opportunity filling in for the sore Brandon Morrow. Greg Norton hit a key double and eventually scored as Brian McCann singled in the former Mariner for the winning run. The Mariners mustered only 5 hits in the loss.

Game 3 was completely dominated by Mark Teixeira. Tex blasted 3 home runs, 2 off starter Carlos Silva who failed to pick up a victory in his 12th straight start.

Raul Ibanez picked up two hits off Braves starter Tim Hudson and seemed to be the only player with an answer to his stuff. Jeff Clement’s finally got the monkey off his back with a leadoff double in the seventh, and hit his first dinger of the year to center field in the 9th. Willie Bloomquist knocked in the final run with an RBI single late.

The Mariners head to New York for a series with the Mets starting monday. Game 1’s matchup will see Johan Santana against Felix Hernandez. Should be a fantastic matchup.

The Seattle Mariners and Los Angeles Angels got off to a hot start they combined to score nine runs in the first five innings of the game, but then there was no scoring the final four innings as the Mariners lost 5-4 to the Angels.

Erik Bedard dropped to 4-4 on the season as he took the loss.  Bedard gave up seven hits, five runs (four earned), and three walks as he only lasted 3 1/3 innings.  Bedard needs to start throwing the ball a lot better and earn that money he is making.

R.A. Dickey pitched the final 5 2/3 innings and only gave up three hits.  Maybe he should have started the game instead of Bedard lol.

Jose Lopez hit a solo home run in the fourth inning and then Jose Vidro had a rbi single in the fourth inning.  Those two runs were the only recorded rbi’s in the game as the other two Mariners runs came off errors in the fifth inning.  Yuniesky Betancourt and Lopez both scored on errors in the fifth.

The Mariners will try to get things going again on Wednesday afternoon as they will face off against the Angels once again but this time it will be an afternoon game.

What a great job by the Seattle Mariners pitching staff as they held the Boston Red Sox offense to only two hits on Wednesday night.  The Mariners went onto beat the Red Sox by the score of 1-0 thanks to the great pitching and a solo home run in the third inning.

Erik Bedard threw the first seven innings for the Mariners and allowed both hits.  Bedard lowered his ERA to 4.08 in the game as he picked up his fourth win of the season.  Brandon Morrow and J.J. Putz pitched the final two innings of the game with Putz notching his sixth save of the season.

The one run for the Mariners that came in the third inning came off the bat of Yuniesky Betancourt who hit a solo home run off of Red Sox starter Tim Wakefield.  The Mariners didn’t have too many chances in the game to score as they struckout eight times, so they were lucky to score that one run and come away with the victory in the game.

The Seattle Mariners scored four runs in the top of the ninth inning to take the game into extra innings but then went onto lose on a walk off home run in the tenth inning to the Texas Rangers by the score of 13-12.  Ramon Vazquez took Brandon Morrow deep to win the game for the Rangers.  Morrow took the loss and is now 0-1 on the season.

Starting pitcher Erik Bedard was roughed up in only two innings of action.  Bedard gave up seven hits and six runs as he was hit hard all night long.  Cha Seung Baek pitched the next two innings without letting in a run but then Ryan Rowland-Smith gave up two runs and Mark Lowe gave up four more runs.

The Mariners did hit three home runs in the game.  Kenji Johjima had the big three run blast in the top of the ninth inning to tie the game.  Raul Ibanez had a two run home run in the first inning and Wladimir Balentien had a two run shot as well in the eighth inning.

Johima led the the Mariners with four rbi while Ibanez wasn’t too far behind with three rbi.  Balentein had two rbi and Yuniesky Betancourt finished up the game with one rbi.

Erik Bedard picked up his first victory with the Seattle Mariners as they beat the Tampa Bay Rays by the score of 6-5.  The Mariners record is now at 3-5 and they hope to get back to .500 after the Rays series.

Bedard pitched six innings and allowed five hits, five run (three were earned), walked four, and struckout five batters.  Bedard knows that he needs to have better control of the ball and not walk so many batters, so I expect him to really work on that and have a good performance during his next start.

Ryan Rowland-Smith picked up the save for the Mariners and it was his first save of the season.

Richie Sexson led the Mariners with three RBI followed by Brad Wilkerson who had two RBI.  Jose Lopez was right behind them with one RBI.

ESPN is reporting that Mariners manager John McLaren has told Erik Bedard that he will be the Mariners opening day starter.  It was expected that Bedard would have to battle it out with Felix Hernandez to see who would be the opening day starter.

I don’t think you can go wrong with either pitcher starting on opening day.  Both pitchers are very capable of it, and will provide an awesome 1-2 punch for the Mariners pitching rotation.

The Seattle Mariners and Balimore Orioles have finally completed the Erik Bedard trade that has been rumored for the past month.  Bedard will now be the #2 pitcher behind Felix Hernandez in the Mariners pitching rotation.  Great 1-2 punch for the Mariners!

Adam Jones, George Sherrill, Chris Tillman, Kam Mickolio and Tony Butler are all heading the to the Orioles.  Mariners are giving up a lot, but it could be worth it in the long run.  That is if they can sign Bedard to a long term contract.

What do you think Mariners Fans?  Do you like the trade?
