Erik Bedard picked up his first victory with the Seattle Mariners as they beat the Tampa Bay Rays by the score of 6-5.  The Mariners record is now at 3-5 and they hope to get back to .500 after the Rays series.

Bedard pitched six innings and allowed five hits, five run (three were earned), walked four, and struckout five batters.  Bedard knows that he needs to have better control of the ball and not walk so many batters, so I expect him to really work on that and have a good performance during his next start.

Ryan Rowland-Smith picked up the save for the Mariners and it was his first save of the season.

Richie Sexson led the Mariners with three RBI followed by Brad Wilkerson who had two RBI.  Jose Lopez was right behind them with one RBI.

The Seattle Mariners and Brad Wilkerson have agreed on a one year contract that will pay Wilkerson around $3 million dollars.  The deal could possibly be worth $5 million if he reaches all of the incentives that are included in the deal.  Look for him to fill into the right field position but not have much value hitting in Safeco.
