With Thursday’s trade of reliever Arthur Rhodes to the Florida Marlins, the Mariners have played the last two games with only 24 players on their active 25 man roster. Today that changed when they recalled Jake Woods from Triple-A Tacoma. Woods, 26, has pitched 32 games this season for Tacoma going 6-1 with a 4.08 ERA. He will be used as a lefty reliever out of the bullpen. Woods is also capable of being used as a spot starter.
