The Atlanta Braves have added middle infield depth for the final month of the regular season, acquiring Jack Wilson from the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday night for a player to be named. The Braves, who acquired outfielder Matt Diaz earlier Wednesday, also obtained cash from Seattle in the deal. Wilson was hitting .249 in 62 games for Seattle and has been on the 15-day disabled list since Aug.

The last-place Mariners were swept for the 11th time this season, with starter Jason Vargas giving up a grand slam to Tyler Flowers and a three-run homer to Dayan Viciedo on Sunday in a 9-3 loss to the Chicago White Sox. “We didn’t play very well today at all,” manager Eric Wedge said.

Charlie Furbush at least feels familiar being in a starting rotation and knowing he’ll be going out to the mound on a regular basis. Now comes finding some consistency to prove he can be part of the Seattle Mariners’ future plans as one of their starters. Furbush struggled through five innings on Friday night in Seattle’s 4-2 loss to the Chicago White Sox.
